Amartya Sen

Nobel Prize in Economics, 1998
Amartya Sen is an Indian economist and philosopher. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 1998 for his contributions to welfare economics.
He was also awarded the inaugural Charleston-EFG John Maynard Keynes Prize in recognition of his work on welfare economics in February 2015. He is currently the Lamont University Professor and Professor of Economics & Philosophy at Harvard University.

Kailash Satyarthi

Nobel Peace Prize, 2014
Kailash Satyarthi is a children’s rights & education advocate & an activist against child labour. He was awarded the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize jointly with Malala Yousufzai for their struggle against the suppression of children & young people & for the right of all children to education. He was also awarded the 2015 Harvard Humanitarian Award
His NGO, Bachpan Bachao Andolan has helped rescue over 84,000 children from bonded labour & slavery.

Venkatraman Ramakrishnan

Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 2009
Venkatraman Ramakrishnan is a structural biologist. He was awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry jointly with Thomas Steitz & Ada Yonath for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome.
He is a Padma Vibhushan recipient & was knighted in 2012 for his services to molecular biology.
He is currently group leader & Deputy Director at the Medical Research Council, Laboratory of Molecular Biology on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

David Trimble

Nobel Peace Prize, 1998
David Trimble is a British politician who was the 1st First Minister of Northern Ireland (1998-2002). While the leader of the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) he was awarded the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize jointly with John Hume for their efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Northern Ireland.
As UUP leader he was instrumental in the negotiations that lasted 8 months & led to the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. In 2006, he was made a life peer in the House of Lords.

Leymah Roberta Gbowee

Nobel Peace Prize, 2011
Leymah Roberta Gbowee is a Liberian peace activist, social worker & women's rights advocate. She was awarded the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize jointly with Ellen Johnson Sirleaf & Tawakkol Karman for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women & for women's rights to full participation in peace-building work.
She played a pivotal role in ending the 2nd Liberian Civil War in 2003 & is the founder of Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa which provides educational & leadership opportunities to girls, women and the youth in Liberia.

Arthur McDonald

Nobel Prize in Physics, 2015
Arthur McDonald is a Canadian astrophysicist. He was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics jointly with Japanese physicist Takaaki Kajita for the discovery of neutrino oscillations which shows that neutrinos have mass He is also a co-recipient of the 2015 Fundamental Physics Prize.
He is the director of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory Institute and professor emeritus at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
